Day 4 – Twenty Questions

Image

Normally I would be more guarded to devulge my personal information online. But lets face it, I have 3 followers and one of them is myself, so I think I’m all good. Obviously these aren’t frequently asked questions because there have been no questions frequently asked but just questions I have plucked from different places so enjoy. And if there is anything you want to know just ask me in the comments – I’m an open book πŸ™‚

This story appeared in the news on cnn.com on Thursday November 7, 2013.

Who- All the people in the Philippines are being affected.
What- A huge tropical cyclone named Haiyon hit
When- Friday (their Friday morning is before our Friday morning.)
    Where- the Philippines
Why- the storm hit and affected many people
How- It moved west over the islands. Across the West Pacific to them.

    Summary-
A super typhoon swept across the Philippines Friday morning and reached winds of 235 mph but sustained a steady 195 mph. Over 3,800 people have been evacuated from their homes. The government is prepared to help with helicopters and planes ready to rescue if they are needed. The storm is estimated to impact almost 25 million people. An average of 20 typhoons hit the country every year and this is the worst this year.

Why is it in the news?-
This is in the news because of it’s magnitude. It has so much effect on so many people on that side of the world and there will e more stories in the news continuing this because a lot of people want to know what is going to happen and if everyone will be okay and everything.

What does this mean to the world/nation/community?
This means to the world that storms can come very hard and have a big impact on people. This storm could kill so many people and injure so many more. This means to the nation that we should always be on the lookout for storms like this so we can be prepared like they were. It means to the community that we should always be ready for a storm with emergency supplies in case a huge storm comes that could be dangerous.

Will there be change due to this issue?
There will be changes due to this issue. More people will be injured or killed from this typhoon and the government seems really ready to help and will try their hardest to make this storm the least tragic they can for the people of their country. I think there will be a follow-up article to this to tell everyone how it all turned out when it ends.

  2. I love this – it reminds me of “Notes” on facebook, years ago! And the height thing is so funny, I’m Canadian and when I tell people I’m 5’8″ I have to remember literally everyone else uses the metric system for height except for North America :p
